How to replace city mini GT2 / Elite 2 Brake Assembly

These instructions apply to both the city mini GT2 and the city elite 2 brake assembly and is a reasonably simple part to replace yourself at home.

Step 1

Unscrew the brake assembly from the frame using the two Allen keys provided. Turn the keys in opposite directions to release.

Step two

Pull the brake assembly off the frame.

Step three

Unthread the brake cable from the frame (unhook from the side of the frame)

Step Four

Pop the red brake out of its housing (this requires some force twisting the red brake to pop the corner out)

Step Five

Rotate the screws on the cable to line up the two spaces to be able to slide the brake cable out.

Step Six

Either unscrew the black brake handle housing from the frame with a phillips head screw driver. Or you can leave the housing on the frame and attach the new cable to the existing red brake.

Now install the new brake assembly following the same steps in reverse.
